A Quick Update


For those of you still wondering about my phone, God is good, all the time! I filled out a Lost Property form, and the next morning I got an email saying that "An item that may match the item you have lost was handed into the HiQ Kelvin Grove.” So I went to HiQ (the student service centre) after my workshop, and it was my phone! PTL! Yay God is so good to me. 

Keiko came over to cook rice because she doesn’t have rice cooker in her apartment, and we made rice balls and sushi! Throwback to when my grandma made rice balls and sushi when we went on day trips.

My room turned into a laundromat 😛 Since it costs $4 to dry a load of laundry, I've hung a lot of my clothes in my room to dry. I can barely get into my room since some shirts are in the bathroom and I left the door open. The cheap things students do. 

Aunty Jenny sent me a message this afternoon about a four-hour flight deal from Brisbane to Sydney, and after much complicated messaging, I’m going to Sydney from the 14th-16th of September! It’s Thursday to Saturday (and I will be skipping workshop, but too bad. Who can pass up a $69 flight ticket?), but looking forward to seeing more of the world. Just kinda bummed that I’m not going with family...

We had our Christian fellowship meeting tonight, and we jammed afterwards ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ I love spontaneous musical gatherings, especially when they are directed in worship. And I didn't know how much I missed small group sharing + discussion until today ❤️

I should be sleeping soon, but considering I slept for 11 hrs today, this is forgivable. Here’s the full picture of the river at dusk (same one as the verse pic!); again, so much better in person (comeeeee). Goodnight!

Exploring QUT

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together  for good,   for  those who are called according to his purpose." -Romans 8:28 I’ve been at uni(versity) the past two days for orientation and just exploring QUT (Queensland University of Technology) for the coming semester. There are two campuses: Gardens Point, a 15-minute walk from my apartment, and Kelvin Grove, a 10-minute bus ride from GP. The shuttle bus is free for everyone who has a QUT ID card (I got mine yesterday! My picture looks decent hehe). It’s O-week (O for orientation), and a lot of the clubs had stalls (booths) to advertise. As much as I wanted to have a different uni life from the one I had at SCU, I was still drawn to the music groups, Christian fellowships, and of course Ultimate (Frisbee)! Mini-Adventures

Over the weekend, QUT hosted the Dragon Boat Regatta, and I got to row on the Brisbane river. There were twenty people per boat and twenty teams, so it was a pretty big event. Even though our team didn’t come close to winning, I had a great experience meeting and hanging out with different locals and international students on our team (shown below). I also got drafted to play touch rugby! Maybe. I’ve discovered how bad Aussies are at following up and communication in general. You definitely have to be proactive about everything. We’ll see if this follows through. Team Dragonest! Stereotypical Aussie Tourists

This was one of the reasons I came to Australia to study abroad, and I finally hugged a koala at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with my mum yesterday! We rode the bus to the world’s largest koala sanctuary, home to over 130 koalas. It also showcases many different Aussie animals, including various reptiles, birds, and marsupials. Touristy Pic I learned a lot about these Australian animals and realised I’ve held lots of misconceptions about them. Koalas are pretty big (and my mum thought it was a bit heavy) and sleep 18-20 hours/day because their eucalyptus leaves diet doesn’t have much nutrition.
